Sunday Inspirazione: Festival of Style

#LooKbooK: Points of Ivy

so ivy. so not deadly.

I love this photo from the other day. It contrasts so well with the greenery all around- including the mental-cum-metaphorical green, y'know. I'm not big on green though, but I thought the merging of colours and the shifting of themes between clothing and ambiance was so stark, that I just had to take the photo. I threw a varied-color, striped scarf in, to break some of the dark, because I'm donning a black T, black skinny jeans, and black footwear. The shirt is on-green-on-olive-somewhat-military, which I really love. Shaquille was the photog and thank God, because not everyone takes really good pictures. It's NOT just about taking the photo, it's about being able to capture what should be displayed, and I appreciate an attentive, assertive, and eager photographer, whose skills allows what's being captured, to be displayed immaculately, whilst simultaneously highlighting the contours of his own craft.

When you tell these inanimate things my name. Imagine.

In this case, it's modeling and not the pool, though as you can see, the angle from which he took it balances it out perfectly, so that I don't seem as if I happened to the pool nor the scene or something. There's equilibrium, and no dissidence in shading, setting, nor position. If he stood any more right or left, it would be a picture of the pool with me plonked in it, and that's the attentive qualities a lot of people lack when they take photos. Sometimes you can really see the difference between when I am behind the cam, and then when I am in the front, because I put a lot into making sure I capture my friends, or whatever I'm capturing really well.

CAMERA EYES

Here's a photo of me, from my TV exam and photo shoot, two weeks ago. I'm so sad the course is already over, and I'm already missing everyone so much. The house was full of talent, and the stakes are always high. I know that we will all succeed, by our own versions of success, in our worlds, and I trust that everyone has garnered, exquisite skill, assertiveness, and indefinitely, confidence.
Renico is an astounding photographer, as you can so clearly see. I am really grateful, and would love to work with him again, away from the agency, and for my own personal photos. I highly recommend him.

The Index finger of the City.

I attended a party recently;
My friend's gorgeous affair
took place upon the roof'
of the Johannesburg, Art Decadence Hotel
The hotel breathes the breath of the glamorous,
and captivates, while it allures the senses,
the true essence of life atop a city.
Johannesburg is the city of art,
Johannesburg is the city most close to my yearning heart.

A view from the top; a look at the city just as the sun set.
Mild darkness. Half-day, half-night; a two-faced moment, like being in two places at the time, I, along
with these buildings, were caught in two time spaces, at the same time.

A vintage touch to a modern city.

During the early afternoon. The air smelled of excitement, and feelings most unexplained.
Clouds amassed to conceal, at least partially, the fancy tops of some buildings.

That tower stands out, most stall.
That tower is the index finger of the city.

The Only Eye

The art of a place
one destination, the intricacy of an expressive face
like the hand of the artist
or the weep of the clown
the art of a place
just like the beauty of a face
painted with the bristles of divine grace.

This photo was taken with my iPhone, and I felt so comfortable posing for these photos (This is not the only one.) I love Photography and I am very passionate about it. I love taking photos; I am the kind of photographer who would take a picture of something more abstract than abstract. I love fashion photography; playing the role of model, and mostly, photographer. We all know that pictures speak a million words, but are we ever concerned with the particular voices in them? The words they're saying, and whether or not they are from pain or happiness?

I am drawn towards pictures from which I can hear the voices, and relate to the emotions exuding there from. It's emotional for me, and I believe that modelling carries the same amount of emotion with it. You can just see, not only by the eyes, when a model is representing 'sex' or depicting 'nostalgia' in the photo. It matters most, and it is important to find a comfortable zone behind the lens, because if you don't loosen up to the flash- give your all- the picture is going to be missing so much. It's important to recognize the qualities within you, most apt to entice, that you want to bring out in a photo, moreover you should learn to accept guidance, and directions from those, who are wiser than you. Also, relent of the mindset that you cannot be told how and when to do things, accept your position in the world, and remember, the best picture is the one filled with memories, emotions, etc.

Here are some more pictures, taken from the same shoot as the one above:
